If you’re an animal lover looking to make a difference in the Bay Area sign up for a volunteer orientation at the San Francisco SPCA. Volunteers help socialize cats, take dogs on walks, assist adopters in meeting adoptable cats and dogs, provide foster care to kittens, participate in the Feral Fix, and work with the community through Animal Assisted Therapy programs such as “Puppy Dog Tales.” We have volunteer opportunities for animal lovers of all ages. Orientations are held regularly on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Visit sfspca.org/support/volunteer for more information or call 415-522-3523.
Youth Programs
The Humane Education department at the San Francisco SPCA encourages and enhances children’s love of animals. Animal camps not only give kids access to animals of all kinds in the 1 week sessions, the program is designed to reinforce compassion, respect and responsibility through hands-on activities and exciting, inquiry-based classes. The experience fosters a sense of community as well, promoting animal advocacy and community activism.
Camp sessions are held throughout the summer and during school breaks. There are also high school volunteer programs throughout the year.
